This section will be dedicated to the handouts we use in class. If you ever have any questions about any of the content here to reach out by email or text and I will do my best to explain! Happy Painting!
As I was playing around with Color one night I wondered if there would be an easier and far quicker way to mix a flesh pallet. For my students in the Classical Academic method of painting, mixing a flesh pallet can be a daunting experience to say the least. I kept coming back to the primary colors concept that you can mix any color from the correct combination of these three colors. After a little research on line and playing around with these colors I discovered that if you mix equal parts of the five colors on the chart, you will get a 4th or 5th value Flesh! From that you can add more red for a red complexion or more yellow for a yellow complexion. To lighten the values simply use titanium white and to darken the values add more burnt umber or blue. Yellow and white lighten, brown red or blue to darken. Play around with it and see what you get. ANY color match can be achieved with this simple method. First focus on getting the correct value and then dial in the color to match. I will post a video at some point to show you how this works. It’s ALWAYS better to see a demonstration and you should require your teachers to be able to DEMONSTRATE!!!!!
